EXPERTISE

CATALOGUE NOTE
The present work displays the influence of Osias Beert I, who was active in Antwerp, where he became an apprentice with Andries van Baesrode I in 1596 and master in the Guild of Saint Luke in 1602. He is only known as a painter of flowers and fruits, his works are rarely signed or monogrammed and never dated. The stylistic similarities combined with the dendrochronological analysis supports an origin in Antwerp in the first quarter of the 17th century, ca, 1600 – 1610.
